Cover the rest of the roof with ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment or #30 felt (denoted by white area).

Cut a slit 1” wide (or a series of 1 ¾” holes at 3” on center) into the roof decking 6” to 7” up from the drip edge.
If you don’t have soffits, or your roof style doesn’t allow for soffit vents, some homeowners will consider a drip edge vent.
